WinRunner V2.0
Copyright 1991-1992, Andrew P Duggan
Control the clutter when starting Windows 3.1 programs. WinRunner (formerly
WinStart) is a Windows 3.1 program that launches and positions suites of pro-
grams.
Like WinStart, WinRunner extends the load= and run= options of Win.ini, and
the Program Manager StartUp group while providing a better interface for
changing what programs are run every time you start Windows 3.1. WinRunner
though is not limited to performing this function at Windows load time, but
allows suites of applications to be launched together at any time. You can
specify that applications start:
o Minimized (Iconic)
o Maximized (Full Screen)
o Placed to any location
o Hidden
o With any document loaded automatically.
Installation:
o Backup all important files, especially Win.ini.
o Expand WinRunner files into your Windows directory.
o Create a Program Manager Icon for the WinRunner control program.
- Choose File New Menu item
- Select Program Item, Click OK.
- Enter Description: WinRunner Control
- Enter Command Line: RunCtl
- Click OK.
A new icon will be created in the program group for WinRunner
Control program.
o Start WinRunner Control program by double clicking it's icon.
To create a WinRunner Suite file

enter a command line for the application
-- OR --

control program main window.
o Select the Minimize radio button to start the application as an icon.
o Select the Maximize radio button to start the application full screen.
o Check the Position check box to activate the automatic window place-
ment feature.
o Select the Hide radio button to start the application hiden.
Warning: There is no way to "un-hide" an application window, so use
care when selecting this option.
o Save the application suite by selecting "Save" or "Save as" from the
file menu.
To open an existing WinRunner Suite file, you can drop a .WST file on to
the WinRunner control program main window.
To run the programs in the suite,
o Select the "Execute" option from the file menu.
-- OR --
o from Program Manager or File Manager's Run menu item, specify
WINRUNNR xxxxx.WST where xxxxx.WST is the name of your WinRunner
suite file (.WST).
-- OR --
o drop a WinRunner suite file (.WST) on to the WINRUNNR.EXE file
in File Manager.
To create suite to load each time Windows start
o For each item in the Win.ini line load=, or Program Manager's StartUp
group where the "Run Minimized" box is checked, create a new item
in WinRunner. Select the Minimize radio button to load these as icons.
o For each item in the Win.ini line run=, or other items in Program
Manager's StartUp group, create a new item in WinRunner.
o To activate the automatic window placement check the Position
check box.
o To hid the application's window select the "Hide" button.
Warning: There is no way to "un-hide" this window, so use care when
selecting this option.
